AVS Video Editor - Workspace

The purpose of the Workspace is working with your projects. Here you can create, edit, add different effects to your project. The Workspace could be represented in two views:


Storyboard View

The storyboard view is default view for workspace. It has a storyboard menu and storyboard space itself where you can change the order of clips in your project. To add clips to the workspace simply drag them from Media Library and drop to the necessary place in the workspace. To start playing your project from the specific object (clip or transition) just double click at the object. To play the whole movie click Play button in Main Preview.

AVS Video Editor

In the table below you can find the description of storyboard menu buttons.

Button Name Description
AVS Video Editor Preview Storyboard Use this button to start previewing from the selected storyitem (without audio).
AVS Video Editor Stop Preview Use this button to stop previewing the selected storyitem.
AVS Video Editor Duplicate Storyitem Use this button to duplicate the selected storyitem.
AVS Video Editor Delete Storyitem Use this button to delete the selected clip or to clear transition.
AVS Video Editor Show Property Use this button to see the properties of the selected object.
AVS Video Editor Show Multitrim Window Use this button to open Multiple Trim window to split the video at the Storyboard into scenes or to merge scenes in the selected video.
Note!Note: this button is only enabled in case you select video clip at the Storyboard.
AVS Video Editor Undo Storyboard Operation Use this button to undo the storyboard operation.
AVS Video Editor Redo Storyboard Operation Use this button to redo the storyboard operation.
AVS Video Editor Move to the right Use this button to move the selected object to the right.
AVS Video Editor Move to the left Use this button to move the selected object to the left.
AVS Video Editor Show Help Use this button to run AVS Video Editor Help file.

You can find a Main Preview menu in the right part of a storyboard menu. To open Main Preview window please use Show/Hide Preview button.

Note!Note: Main Preview is intended for previewing the whole project with audio and all of the effects and changes you made.

Timeline View

The Timeline view allows you to achieve accuracy and precision in applying effects and editing your clips.

AVS Video Editor

AVS Video Editor allows you to apply one or several effects to your media file. For details on specific effect, please refer to respective chapters. You can create transitions between two adjacent clips. The time is displayed as hours:minutes:seconds.hundredths of a second (h:mm:ss.hs).

AVS Video Editor Split/Delete Selected Area Use this button to split a clip at the cursor position or to delete the selected area.
Note!Note: splitting is a storyboard operation. You will be able to undo this operation in storyboard mode.
AVS Video Editor Undo Use this button to undo last operation.
AVS Video Editor Redo Use this button to redo last operation.
AVS Video Editor Move up line Use this button to move up the selected video effect.
AVS Video Editor Move down line Use this button to move down the selected video effects.
AVS Video Editor Show Help Use this button to run AVS Video Editor Help file.
AVS Video Editor Zoom In Use this button to zoom selection in.
AVS Video Editor Zoom Out Use this button to zoom selection out.
AVS Video Editor 100% View Use this button to set 100% view of selection.

The Timeline view displays all the possible editing options simultaneously. You can see the Audio Mixing, Video Effects, Text Overlay and Video Overlay used to edit your video clip. To expand any effect applied to the video you need to press the '+' button near it, to collapse it press the '-' button. You can also lock the editing line to prevent changes to it pressing the Lock AVS Video Editor button. To allow the further changes you will need to press this button, that will have now the following appearance AVS Video Editor, once again.
