Step 2: Run AVS Video ReMaker and load the original video

After you launch the program, select your video using the Add File(s) button. In the opened Windows Explorer Window browse for the necessary folder containing video files.

Note!Note: AVS Video ReMaker processes all files without recompressing them. Since the Create DVD Menu option is available only for DVD movies, you can use the files of MPEG or DVD formats as input files. If you wish to create a DVD menu for a file of some other type (AVI, WMV etc), please use AVS Video Converter to convert it to DVD and create a menu for the resulting file.

Note!Note: if your input is a DVD disc, you will need to select the path to your source file: X:\Video_TS\Video_TS.IFO. "X" stands for your DVD-ROM or the hard disk drive folder where your DVD is stored.

It is important to select the IFO file, rather than VOB file, because the IFO file contains the information about the entire DVD structure and this way you will avoid audio and video de-synch problems when converting. Also, most DVDs have several VOB files (files with actual video) and if you convert VOBs instead of IFO, you will have to merge them afterwards, which is not the case with the IFO files.

When the video is loaded, you can manage it using the Delete File and Delete All Files buttons to remove the video from the program and Add File(s) button to add more video files to AVS Video ReMaker.

Step 3: Create DVD Menu: manage chapters

The movie will be split into chapters automatically as you import it into the program to preserve the original DVD menu. Each marker on the timeline corresponds to the beginning of a new chapter. You can manage the chapters list in the following way:

  • Preserve the original DVD menu (no need to do anything in this case as the chapters list is already created by default). In case you accidentally deleted all chapters from the list, you can easlily restore them by pressing Add>> Add Chapters from Source.

  • Delete some chapters from the chapters list. To do that, find the chapter you wish to delete in the chapters list, select it with the mouse and press the Remove button.

  • Create your own chapters list. To do that, first clear the original chapters list by pressing the Clear button, next create your own chapters: left-click within the timeline area to set a marker in the position where you wish the chapter to begin, next press the Add button. The new chapter will appear in the DVD Chapters field. Perform the same procedure to create all chapters.

  • Add chapters automatically. Switch to the Detect Scenes mode, detect moments of scenes changes and go Add>> Add Chapters from the Scenes List. If you select this option, the number of DVD chapters will correspond to the number of scenes detected. Go Add>> Add Chapters at interval to automatically add chapters at a fixed interval of time (1,2,5,10,15,20 minutes).

Here you can select the output file Name, destination Path and set video Format to DVD as you created a menu.

The Burn movie to disc after processing option will be available. When it is enabled, the AVS Video ReMaker will record the resulting files onto an optical disc using the internal burn engine. After that you will need to press the Start button and will see the deletion progress on the progress bar. It will take some time depending on the file length and your computer configuration.

Insert a blank DVD into your computer optical disc drive. Make sure that the disc is compatible with your drive.

AVS Video Burner application will be launched to guide you through the burning process so that you could record your converted video onto a disc.

You can select the necessary disc drive if you have several, refresh it and mark the Verify disc check-box to make sure the disc is recorded correctly.

After the burning is over the disc will be ejected automatically. Note, if you checked the Verify disc, the recording will take a little longer depending on the size of the output files as the program will need time to verify them.

Now your DVD video is ready to be watched using your home DVD player or personal computer!
