Introduction

Sometimes there is a need to convert your video containing subtitles - translation (in case the soundtrack is in language you do not understand), commentaries or simply the text of what the people on the screen say - that is really very helpful in case you cannot hear properly what is being said.

Using AVS Video Converter you can convert not only DVDs with subtitles into other video file types preserving the subtitles in the output video, but you can also convert, for instance, .avi files with subtitles located in separate files - .sub or .srt into other video files with subtitles.

Note!Note: in case you convert an .avi video file with a .sub or .srt subtitle file please make sure that both files have the same name (e.g. My video.avi and My video.srt or My video.avi and My video.sub) so that the program could load the subtitle file correctly.

It is usually safe to select the IFO file, rather than VOB file, because the IFO file contains the information about the entire DVD structure and this way you will avoid audio and video de-synch problems when converting. Also, most DVDs have several VOB files (files with actual video) and if you convert VOBs instead of IFO, you will have to merge them afterwards, which is not the case with the IFO files.
